Look, you can quibble with his last three recruiting classes because he didn't sign Cam Akers or Jeshaun Corbin or hold onto Grant (though most of those making this point also were saying we didn't need the kid), BUT it's hard not be impressed with what RG accomplished here at UT. Yes, we didn't have a Doak Walker award winner, but he had productive backs every year he was here:

Neal
Lane/Hurd
Hurd/Kamara
Kamara/JK
JK/Chandler/CFA

And let's not forget, he was the run game coordinator for one Joshua Dobbs, all-time leading QB runner in school history.

AK not playing over Hurd can't be saddled on RG, IMO. That was a Butch Jones thing, and Hurd's mom can correct me if I'm wrong.

Nonetheless, he still developed a player who was the Rookie of the Year in the NFL, used in many of the ways AK was finally used at UT when he got his shot.

Second, signing Ty Chandler was a BFD at the time. How quickly we forget the importance of recruits in today's "what have you done for me lately" society.

I don't have info, but I'd wager that RG has a new opportunity available to him rather than CJP is kicking him out, especially after the salary announcement and what not.

I trust CJP; it's his team and I'm a loyal fan. I just think CRG deserves more respect than what he's getting. A lot of you guys are acting like we're instantly gonna upgrade CRG, and I don't think that's the case. I think he's one of the best RB coaches in the land, hands down, and I wish him the best. Maybe we will upgrade, but I think assuming there's a big fish on the line is a bad assumption.
