You look at the overall numbers and you think "Man this kid puts up video game numbers" but his stats are padded against mid majors. SEC competition he is actually not a very good QB.
Georgia- 23 of 48 for 221 yards 0 TDs and 1 INT. 47% completion.
South Carolina- 17 of 36 for 204 yards 0 TDs 2 INTs. 47% completion.
Alabama- 13 of 26 for 142 yards 1 TD 2 INTs. 50% completion.
Kentucky- 15 of 27 for 165 yards 0 TDs 0 INTs. 55% completion.
Florida- 24 of 32 for 250 yards 3 TDs 0 INTs. 75% completion. They have UFs number for 2nd straight year. Fair play to them. November is typically right around the time when Florida's players have quit as well.
Vandy- 22 of 33 for 253 yards 2 TDs 2 INTs. 66% completion. (You think "Oh Vandy must at least have a solid defense"... wrong. 13th in the SEC in total defense ahead of only Ole Miss. Vandy is also 125th out of 128 FBS teams in 3rd down defense)
6 TDs vs 7 INTs and averaging 205 passing yards per game. With a completion % in the 50s.
Against the 4 non conference opponents:
15 TDs vs 1 INT and averaging 353 yards per game. Completion % in the 70s.
That is pretty consistent with how he has been his entire career. Goes off in 4 games to get his stats up and everything thinks he is the truth. He has prototypical size and arm strength making him a good NFL prospect which only adds to the mystic he is a great QB. Stats in real games say otherwise.
Food for thought as the Vols are playing the best defense of the year and really the best defense is many years. Alontae and Bryce are continuing to get better. Warrior IMO has played the 2 best games of his career the last 2. Micah is back. Flowers is back and with how Lock puts the ball in harms way game is suited for a ball hawk like him. I thought Theo did some good things against UK even if this game doesn't suit him as well. And how about Osborne making 3 of 4 really nice plays?
