Let’s just assume we keep everyone we have committed in the 2021 class (maybe not likely but hard to tell really)
Offense: minimum 7 of 11 starters gone.
QB: Can’t get worse. Bailey and/or Salter battle
RB: Lose starting RB. Gray starts with Smalls/Hodge/Brown (Fr), Wright (Fr)
WR/TE: lose 2 starting WRs plus Velus. Starting likely Keyton, Tillman, Hyatt/Wideman? Fant appears to be best option at TE unless Wolfe/another Fr. is ready
OL: if Cade goes lose 3 interior starters and Jahmir. 2 five star OTs back but underperforming right now. Carvin has a spot in the inside as well.
Defense: lose 5 of 11 starters
DL: entire DL plus Middleton is gone. Simmons, Garland, Emerson return. Unknown if Willis (Fr) and/or Brooks (if he plays DE) are instant impact players
LB: lose Jack/best pass rusher in DeAndre. Too Too huge obviously. Banks/Crouch both kinda have a shot at being pretty good but could also not progress. Beasley, Harrison, Bennett all showing flashes. Have some good young studs coming in but will be freshmen.
DB: not really showing as a strength at all right now but everyone but Sham can return. Will Alontae ever take the next step? Can Slaughter/Lawrence emerge as an option at S? Don’t really have a ton of good DB help coming in right now.
Special Teams: lose preseason all-conference kicker and Velus at return. Whatever.
To be clear, by no means do I want CJP fired or anything. But even if he makes above average moves to his staff before 2021 is there confidence that we have a shot at really anything meaningful in 2021? Might need A LOT of guys to mature/develop by next year for his seat not to be scorching by October.
