1. Tuttle is a beast! A guy at 311 lbs isn't supposed to move like that. He will be a 1st round pick. Reminds me of Casey from the Titans. Kahlil played a very good game as well. There was one down in the 2nd quarter where Kahlil and Tuttle completely collapsed the pocket. Kahlil with 2 defenders which allowed Tuttle to own his. There is hope.
2. Danny Obrien played his best game as a Vol. The guy collapsed the pocket most of the night and made a ton of plays.
3. Martin was better than Mosley even though he drew 2 penalties he was in good position on both. He just needs to learn to get his head around.
4. The O-line was worse than suspected at 1st glance. If that doesn't get fixed and quick FL will be a very long day. Not just this year but next year as well. Dobbs pass to Kamara in the flat for a TD won't happen against FL because Josh will be on his back. A V-Tech defender ran right by Richardson and he didn't even touch him. Josh made a good play evading the tackle and hit Kamara in the flat.
5. Fl will load the box and play man to man against our WR's. V-tech had 10 people in the box on the TD pass to Malone. My worry is our protection is good and their DB's are a ton better than V-Tech.
6. We have to defend the slant better. For some reason on the slant pattern V-Tech started running when we went man-man we moved the WLB out of the middle of the field which left no one home. They had a 12 yard gain and if not for Tuttle getting a hand on the pass a TD the very next play. FL will kill us on that play if we don't get it fixed.
7. I just have to deal with the fact that Dobbs can't read a defense. It is what it is.
8. Someone has to set Dobbs down and tell him that he is a 4 year starter to start acting like it. That throw across his body running to his right to Tyler Byrd in triple coverage that was lucky to go out of the end zone just can't happen. Just like the bone head interception. It's not there man run with it or throw it in the seats. They dropped another one where he threw it to Malone in triple coverage.....again.
9. Colton Jumper can not start against FL. If he does he will get burned. Plain and simple. I believe it was the 2nd V-Tech series he was in for Kirkland and the immediately went after him. He recognized the play but was too slow to react to it. It went for a big gain and eventually their 1st score of the game.
10. There were some positives. The defensive adjustments were huge. Dobbs deep ball to Malone was a thing of beauty.
11. Plain and simple....OL has to block better.
