My thoughts from rewatching Tennessee/Pitt

Wanted to share my thoughts and notes from going back and watching the game.

Copy and pasted my notes from my computer, so hope it makes sense. If something doesn't make sense, feel free to ask. Or if you disagree with something, we can discuss!

1st Quarter:

Pittsburgh’s opening drive:
- Pitt starts on the 16 — Theo TFL, Krull couldn’t block him, loss of 5
  - On 2nd/14, Pickett INC looking for Addison — Theo in coverage, presence forced throw wide
  - On 3rd/14, Alontae slows screen down, Blakely cleans it up to force punt after no gain
    - CHRISTIAN CHARLES BLOCKS PUNT
      - Got skinny through the B-Gap practically untouched
      - Pitt recovered because Page and Slaughter tried to scoop and score
Tennessee’s opening drive after the blocked punt: — JABARI SMALL 2-YARD TD TO MAKE IT 7-0
- Vols start on the 2 and score on the first play — JABARI SMALL 2-yard TD
  - Cade Mays and Spraggins moved Pittsburgh out of the way, Fant did a good job of sealing the edge
    - 15-yard penalty on Darnell Wright taking his helmet off
Pittsburgh’s 2nd drive:
- Pitt starts on the 30 — Tyler Baron TFL for 2 on 1st/10
  - 2nd/12 — Pitt rush for 3 after met by Baron/Simmons/Banks
  - 3rd/9 — Pickett to Shocky for 6 on drag — Alontae/Burrell missed tackle, but Vols rallied to force punt
  - 4th/9 — Theo Jackson fair catch on 44-yard punt
Tennessee’s 2nd drive:
- Starts on the 19 — Milton to Fant for 9 on first down
  - 2nd/1 — Jabari rush for 4 to pick up first down
- 1st/10, Jabari rush for 2
  - 2nd/8, Milton to Fant for 10 and first down — dumped it off with LB in his face on blitz
- 1st/10, Milton incomplete to Hyatt — holding on Spraggins
  - Beautiful throw from Milton, good job of feeling the pressure in the pocket
- 1st/20, Milton incomplete high looking for Calloway over middle
  - 2nd/20, Milton rush for 13 on QB draw
    - 3rd/7, Milton incomplete to Payton deep — Payton beat his man
      - 4th/7, Brooks 51-yard punt to put Pitt on the 2
Pittsburgh’s 3rd drive: — THREE STRAIGHT THREE-AND-OUTS
- Davis rush of 2 — Theo/Mitchell in on the stop
  - 2nd/8, Davis rush of 2 — Theo in off the edge
    - 3rd/6, Pickett to Vincent for 5 — Theo missed tackle, but Flowers/Alontae cleaned up before the marker
      - 4th-and-1: 40-Yard punt, Theo calls a fair catch on own 49
Tennessee’s 3rd drive: — MCGRATH 37-YARD FIELD GOAL MAKES IT 10-0
- Starts on the 49 — incomplete to Calloway deep — stepped into pressure (delayed blitz from 24)
  - 2nd/10 — Small rush for 3
    - 3rd/7 — Milton incomplete looking for Walker, but offsides negates it
    - 3rd/2 — False start on Ollie Lane makes it 3rd/7
    - 3rd/7 — Milton to Velus for 9 for first down on bubble screen — good blocking from Tillman
  - 1st/10 — Milton incomplete as Velus dropped a bullet while getting hit — Milton had stepped up, scrambled
    - 2nd/10 — Milton incomplete to Tillman — JUST COMPLETELY MISSED
      - 3rd/10 — Milton incomplete to Keyton, but Pitt offsides negates it
      - 3rd/5 — Milton to Jacob Warren for 7 on sideline and first down
        
        Great throw on timing throw
    - 1st/10 — Milton sacked for loss of 2
      - Milton wanted to go to Warren over middle, but LB was there in coverage, Spraggins pulled on the play-action and whiffed on edge/DE
      - 2nd/12 — Milton to Velus for 6
        
        3rd/6 — Milton complete to Jaylen for 3 on shovel pass
        
        4th/3 — MCGRATH 37-YARD FIELD GOAL MAKES IT 10-0
Pittsburgh’s 4th drive: — Pickett to Stovall for 5-yard TD to make it 10-7
- Pickett rush for 7 after facing pressure from his left side, nobody home on right side — good coverage downfield
  - 2nd/3 — Abanikanda rush for 6 and first down — Beasley missed tackle that would have prevented first down
- 1st/10 — Pickett sacked for loss of 2 by Theo on a backside DB blitz
  - 2nd/12 — Pickett to Krull for 12 and first down — Krull wide open over middle of field (Beasley slipped)
- 1st/10 — Pickett to Mack for gain of 22 and first down — Alontae beat
- 1st/10 — Pickett complete to Abanikanda for gain of 4 — Page big hit
  - 2nd/6 — Pickett rush of 1 — nobody open downfield, stepped up and ran, Simmons tackle
    - 3rd/5 — Pickett to Addison for 16 and first down — Mitchell/Banks subbed in, didn’t know coverage
  - 1st/10 — Pickett incomplete to Addison, Flowers called for DPI — tripped Addison in end zone, not catchable
  - 1st/10 — Abanikanda rush for 3 (Banks/Mitchell)
    - 2nd/7 — Abanikanda rush for loss of 3 (Roman, Butler, Banks blew up the play)

END OF FIRST QUARTER — TENNESSEE LEADS 10-0 WITH PITT THREATENING
