This is kind of long...but need help. We have a 1.5 yr old house that we bought new as a spec home July 2013. It had 2 seperate builder grade Goodman heat pump units installed. We noticed in early December 2014 that our downstairs unit was constantly running and it wasnt that cold outside. I felt the air vents and the air coming out wasnt warm. Our auxillary heat was kicking on fairly frequently. We got hit with a electric bill that was too high.
After reading a few google reviews, I called Stan's Heating & Air in Chatt. Repair guy said indoor coil was semi slowly leaking and coolant was gone.(parts under warranty & $660 for labor will fix it) Adds coolant($75) and said this will help for a few months but they need to order coil from Goodman to permanently fix the problem.(we ordered the coil that day). A day later, our upstairs unit stopped working. Called back next day...guy came out and said he apparently accidentally worked on upstairs unit a little before he realized it was the wrong unit and left a cap off. Fixes that...no charge. 2 days later, the downstairs unit stops working again. Call back a 3rd time...guy comes out and said he left something off downstairs unit...he fixes that..no charge. Coil comes in a few days later and he fixes it. 2 days later, cold air is blowing out again downstairs! I called back mad and requested a different repair person that knew what he was doing. New repair guy(also w/ Syan's) says his colleague is known to make mistakes. He fixes another issue caused by the 1st guy. 4 days later, unit blowing cold air AGAIN! I call back and request Stan and explain how unhappy we are with his company. He send the 2nd guy back out and he checks our outdoor coil snd says it is out! Stan apologized and said they rarely check outdoor coils and they're going to give me a small discount on labor to fix it($378 instead of $425).
I am irate by this point. I wrote a detailed letter to Goodman and they're mailing me a check for $350 to help. We're currently still having to use expensive auxillary heat and are waiting a few wks for the new outdoor coil to come in. I think this was a mis-diagnosis and that we shouldnt have to pay for the 2nd coil.
After having to call 5 times, what would you do? I'm going to report this to the BBB and write a review on google. I'm going through a career change and feel this is very bad business on Stan's part.
