The "what would you do?" parenting post made me think of a debate I had with my brother in law the other day. Luckily my kids are little, so I am not to this stage of parenting but I'm interested in everyone's opinion.
My bro-in-law's mom was the permissive mom that would let her son's friends drink at her house as long as long as they turned in their keys. Her rationale: they are going to drink anyway so might as well keep them off the roads.
My parents had a different approach. They gave me a late curfew but waited up until I got home and, trust me, I rolled in drunk one time, got grounded for a month, lost my car keys, and learned to wait till college to drink again.
I told my bro in law thatvif I found out my daughter drank at his house with his permission (ie he made a parenting decision for me), I'd turn him in and sue the f out of him. We had a good laugh but this actually happened at a local high school. What are your thoughts?
