He has forfeited part of his future compensation due in the rest of his contract that he could have demanded be paid to him. Also, the addition of the clause that prevents negative comments from UT administrators about him and the fact he can be relieved of his duties with a 15 day notice makes one think that he was not dealing from a position of power in his 'retirement' negotiations.

I would like someone who has experience in contract negotiations to give their opinion about why someone would agree to less than 100% of the compensation called for in their contract.
