Not saying this is a problem, just have concerns. This is something that I've been thinking about for some time. Over time I've read post after post about how good Butch and Weston are at evaluating talent. Christmas Giles is a guy that immediately comes to mind. He went from a nobody when Butch offered to a recruit everybody wanted. No doubt a great job at spotting talent. In this class however, I have had some questions. Here are 4 that jump out.
1. The CJ Lewis who they gushed over at camp but wound up being #2 on his own team.
2. Not getting an offer to Phillips early on when apparently everybody else saw his potential. Now a Top 100 talent and grew up a Tennessee fan.We have a lot of non-commitable offers every year.
3. Lack of talent at LBer position. See #2. We obviously only had 2 ready to play LBers and when they went down it showed just how bad LB recruiting has been, that a walk-on had to step in.
4. Accepting 7 kids one weekend of very questionable talent and the negativity behind telling commits to look elsewhere after accepting their commitment.
Is this a problem or am I missing something?
