First, you have to be impressed with the play of Sutton and Micah. Both of them dudes balled out. Sutton's read on App States 2nd and 1 play with 30 seconds left in the game won the game for us.
App State ran a playaction fake to the RB with another fake reverse to get the safeties out of position for their 4th down play in OT. Abernathy barely bit on it and left himself in great position. For a new starter at safety and a guy with 1 year of secondary play under his belt, that showed great eye discipline.
Weakside ends have to play better contain. Kongbo is really active. Not sure if he always knows what he is doing but he is in a hurry to get somewhere. On Cams interception in the 3rd, we played 3 downlinemen and Kongbo was at NT. Doubled he still managed to pressure the throw. VEreen and Barnett got upfield in a hurry so the QB could only step up. But, with Kongbo coming, the throw had less on it than I'm sure he intended.
We really missed JRM. McDowell should be our Sam. Doesn't have JRM's speed it seems or maybe its just JRM's play recognition that separates the 2.
