First, I'm VERY pleased with CDT and think he himself has won several games this year with his coaching alone. I'm stunned at what he's done with what he's had to work with. I wanted to ask this question after a great win because I don't want anyone to think "I know more than CDT when it comes to hoops". I love our matchup zone (even though I have serious limitations in understanding how it works). I remember Joe Ciampi used to Pat Summitt from time to time and got some unlikely wins for Auburn so it must be an effective defense that can bring surprising results. So this is an honest hoops question in regard to our defense. Obiously, we are VERY limited down low. Why would we extend our guards well beyond 3 feet of the three point line during possessions to pressure the ball some when it only spreads us out even more and potentially make us even more vulerable down low to open looks/dunks and one on one mismatches? It seems like we would only want to guard at the 3 point line and in. I'm sure there's a great reason but I was just curious. Thanks in advance!
