On this board sometimes makes me feel like "how can I be on the same social media site" and sometimes even "how am I rooting for the same team as some of these hate filled and sometimes racist people? Maybe I should just go. Then I realize that the vast majority of us are decent, reasonable, loving people who get immense joy from watching the kids that come to Tennessee and share their maturation into in many instances great young men and women along with their athletic talents and accomplishments with us. I realize that we no matter our color, our orientation, our gender, our age are the majority not them. And in spite of those folks jumping at any and every opportunity to spew vitriol and being a very vocal minority, the good folks are truly more representative of Vol fans. People who want to see all of the kids in Knoxville stay out of trouble, get their degrees, accomplish their dreams and yes win some games and championship but the right way. These are the reasons I don't just go and the reasons I hope that the other folk will have either a change of heart or maybe choose another team to root for as I don't see how you can have some of the feelings expressed here about black people and sincerely root for Derek Barnett, Jalen Reeves-Maybin , Alvin Kamara, Josh Malone, Khalil McKenzie, Josh Dobbs and pretty much 80 percent of the Vols roster. The majority of us want to see them succeed on the field and in life just as we want to see Josh Smith, Colman Thomas, Dillon Bates and all of the Vols succeed on the field and in life.
