to use an Andy Griffith phrase. If reports are accurate then his plan ws to transfer and to play tight end, apparently his best NFL chance. Now we find out he cannot transfer without sitting out a year. I do not know who has his ear but did they not bother to check the transfer rules? Does he think the NFL is going to draft him high, if at all, for a position he has never played? Does he not think that the NFL is going to blink, blink at his quitting both on the field and during the season?

I too appreciate what he has contributed to our success and am not trying to beat the kid up but his decision=making is mind "bottlin." Is he not capable of sucking it up for five games, probably set the all time rushing record and secure a place as a Vol legend. Burning bridges is not smart. Now he is drifting.

All of us have "quit" a million times in our minds in all kinds of situations, but had the good sense to stick it out when the emotion passed. If you made a list of dumb decisions he could make this season, I doubt this one could be topped. I don't care if Butch lied to him, he was not elected captain, or Butch chewed him out, he should have moved on and played his hardest to secure his immediate and long term future.
