Pruitt deserves criticism for letting it get to this point. Should have brought Martinez in his first year. Should have went after Howell harder in his second year. Bailey, Salter, Simpson (if he can land that one) are finally starting to build the QB room for the future. If Bailey or Salter can be the guy next year, TN will have a real shot at 8-9 wins next season (10 with a bowl win) and another good recruiting class under the belt.

The are issues, but this team is much closer than it appears to be on the surface. If TN had let Fulmer bring Boyd in at QB and make adjustments to his offense rather than firing him, who knows where TN would be right now. But, I'd bet everything I own that the last 15 years wouldn't have been this terrible. Fulmer knows that better than anyone and surely will factor that in as he helps Jeremy evaluate adjustments in the offseason.
