Last night seemed to be a tipping point in Barnes’ trust for Powell, if he can stay on the floor defensively his shooting or just the threat of his shooting opens things up for us.
Olivier has played well this year and can get more consistent - can he be close to Kyle Alexander consistent on defense? he was really good last night.
Zakai seems to have hit a bit of a wall. I think NC didn’t take him seriously and now teams are. Really excited about him for the next few years, he’s gonna figure it out and be a menace I think. Doesn’t even have to be this year, that’s more down the road. His tenacity, effort and moxie is good to have coming off the bench, dude is always ready to compete and doesn’t get in his feelings.
This team could still really improve. I think our ceiling is determined by how much KC improves, but the floor can be raised pretty significantly.
I still have reservations about Rick Barnes coaching in tournaments, but don’t you worry, I’ll have myself all set up believing we’re gonna put it together this year by the time March rolls around.
(Won’t even speculate on BHH, I’m as intrigued by his ability as anyone but he got zero run last night. There aren’t many free minutes during SEC play.)
