I am buddies with a former offensive lineman who played for him. Yes he was a starter, and knows his stuff....but this isn't necessarily football related.
When coach was let go, he said, "you have no idea what we just lost." So I told him to go on. He said if someone from the local ymca called Coach Fulmer, and asked if he could come speak next month to their kids, he would say "no, i'll be there next week!"
I know that an A.D. job is big. and I know that its a risk. But Coach Fulmer loves Tennessee more than any candidate. Hell, he loves Tennessee more than anybody on this board. He was born here, he played here, he coached here.
We have been bitching about having a gator and a bammer in the front office. Well, here is our chance. Yeah its a risk..but i have a feeling that he will kill the job...
And this Davenport lady? Yeah she is dragging her heels...but after reading about her, she freaking loves sports. I think she is trying to do this the right way...and if she hires Coach Fulmer, she has bigger balls than any of us. Its a risk, but damnit, the reward if coach does the job right? Oh man.....
