Pick it to pieces. Dissect play calling, angles, execution, who might be marginally better or worse. Somebody even had another take, comment/thread yesterday: "Why do other teams look bigger?" or "Why do we look smaller?"
Whatever rabbit hole you want to run down into, its going to lead you right back into the same base case:

On the point (size) above - I watched the UGA, KY games again and watched some of that 1991 team again afterward.
Do yourself a favor and go back and watch the tape between the two.
Man, it is just swag!!! You can just watch the difference between the way they walk, the way they line up, the looks on their faces. I saw guys laying blocks that were just absolutely punishing.
They were doing everything but throwing punches... just a total difference in aggressive play. It was NASTY.
Those guys were just bad asses and they were going to tear your fn face off when you played them. I watched in that ND game on a huge pass play from Kelly to Fleming --- I think it was Bernard Dafney covering their guy on that play and he hits the guy in the chest like 10 times in about 4 seconds, while Kelly was in the pocket. The next play he drives his guy about 10 yards up field into the endzone, during the Hayden TD run. Just abused the sh*** out of his guy and didnt stop. Whoever that guy for ND was - I bet he remembers Bernard Dafney to this day, and would probably bust out laughing with "yeah.. that guy beat my ass!"
You can get some great recruiting classes. Fine. Its got more to do with the program than the talent.
I think that 1990/1991 team --- probably not as big or as fast, would absolutely kick the ever living sh** out of our current team. Just annihilate them and make them never want to play again. They wouldnt know what to do.
Could you imagine Shazzon Bradley practicing against JG??? Im sorry to say this --- but he would kill that kid. It would be a massacre.
Until you start getting some guys who just absolutely cannot mentally comprehend losing ever again, who will do anything they can mentally or physically to change that, who will demand everything of their teammates to do the same, and literally claw an opponents eyes out and beat them up in every attempt on every snap to win -- then here we'll remain.
