Brent, do you know if Butch still does this?

I can't remember where I read or saw it, but I remember Butch saying after his first year on the job here that he sits down in his office individually with every departing Vol at the end of the season and gets their overall take on their time at UT. One question he asks them is if there is anything that they think needs to change or be altered to improve things for the players following them. @Brent_Hubbs

I'm not sure if every coach does this, but I think it's a great idea. It also shows that Butch isn't stubborn and unwilling to change. It's also another reason why I believe we as fans need to stop the hot seat talk and get behind him. He's proven he knows how to win conference championships at Central Michigan and Cincinnati. Sure, the SEC is much, much tougher, but some before this season were questioning if he would ever be able to beat Florida. I would have a much more negative opinion about him if he just sat on his hands and did nothing but the man makes a lot of changes on his staff which is what you have to do. I firmly believe that it has a lot more to do with who's working with the head coach than with the head coach himself. The college game is a constant struggle to find the right combination of assistant coaches who have the right chemistry.

Butch has poured his life into the UT program. We need to give him every chance we can and support him. He's brought us from the 5-7 doldrums to back to back 9-4 seasons and 3 straight bowl blowout wins. Coach Fulmer had to elevate us to the next level and did so. Nothing says Butch can't either.
