We received a letter from his wife that Doug died in July of lung cancer. Typically, he wanted no "show," so there was no funeral. Many of you may remember Doug from the early days of VQ where he was one of the "Forever" brothers. Doug spearheaded a fundraiser for Brent when Brent had serious surgery and VQ was still in its infancy. Back then we had BBQ's and a social before the Spring game and Doug was a leader in those.
Doug was the heart and sole of the Roane County dog and cat rescue and spent a fortune of his own money, money he did not have, to rescue dogs and cats. He was an animal lover on a different level.
My heart goes out to Margaret, his wife, and Jim, his son.
Doug Bailes was one the most generous and warm hearted persons I ever knew. He was all Vol through and through. Damn, this is sad.
