I watch games by myself and don't have anyone to talk shop with, so I wrote my thoughts down as it was going last night. Here they are. TLDR? I don't care. Blaze away if you want.
1st Half
We needed the win and we got it. Energy was much better, but many of the same concerns still evident. Rotations are confusing, don't know what we'll get from most guys every night. Some of the most talented players aren't ready to play and it is mid-January. Shooting, full stop. FTs good tonight though. We have to play much better than this to have a chance against LSU on Saturday.
1st Half
- Starting lineup – the shake up is to go bigger and less athletic/dynamic
- What is going on with the rotations? Just throwing people out there for 2-3 min. stints. No rhythm.
- Energy is good though
- BHH oozes potential – good looking 3 that rims out, initiates the fast break (ends in him getting blocked by a 6-3 guy but looked good until then). A few deflections
- Chandler looking pedestrian on offense in 1st half
- Powell, BHH, Uros – look like what the GQ has thought they are
- 5:42 – ORN, BHH, ZZ, KC, JP – like the potential. Olivier and BHH together could be elite front court
- Uros works his ass off
- 3:07 - Bad shot by ZZ, long 2 with no passes
- Powell HAS to play a lot for offensive balance. His defense looks good tonight.
- No Mashak until 2:14.
- I love our freshmen
- Can we get Chandler some reps at Safety if he comes back next year?
- Bad Uros! Bad!
- KC & Olivier pick and roll/pop is fire
- Missing JJJ on defense
- There are a lot of NBA teams that could use Scottie Pippen Jr. right now.
- 14:00 - ZZ Not confident in his shot right now. (turned down and open look from 3)
- 13:18 Mashak in!
- 11:30 – KC and Olivier give and go – that’s dirty
- KC didn’t like that Vandy’s Thomas was getting the momentum plays
- “Can’t make any more bad passes” Barnes getting onto KC, its always negative feedback with Barnes (that we see)
- 7:11 - We might win this game at the FT line
- 6:52 Mashak again! Then he gets tied up almost immediately :/ - he’s not polished but has great energy and attacks
- Chandler has great hands on D
- Chandler loves the pressure tonight
- Ball don’t lie. (ZZ called for foul with no contact and Olivier blocked it)
- Up 8 – need to put our foot on the throat
- But we didn’t
- 2:00 - Closing lineup – Uros, Santi, KC, Fulk, Powell
- Then ZZ for KC
- Uros working hard again
- Zakai – nuff said
