...of the malaria drug and zythromicin...
My story is anecdotal, for sure, but most of you know I had a friend who was diagnosed a few weeks ago, and the virus literally brought him to death's door. After seven days of persistent fever, severe headache, nausea, and respiratory issues....and then an irregular heart rate and out-of-wack blood pressure, he was admitted to a hospital in the region.
His care team was reluctant to use this treatment. Thank goodness his family and those close to him were persistent. After four days, (on a Thursday) the care team agreed to give it a try. Within 24 hours he was showing improvement, and by late Sunday afternoon he was discharged with home O2. He has a long way to go, in his recovery, but I know his condition prior to beginning the treatment. And I know his condition 72 hours later.
So...if a talking head is giving you the bad news that "it doesn't work," etc, without giving the benefit of info related to ongoing trials, an the success that's being seen in actually usage, you likely have someone drug in front of the camera to fulfill a political agenda.
Politics is an ugly, ugly thing...but when it potentially puts peoples' lives at real risk, it becomes unconscionable. And sadly, there's a lot that going on right now. I have stopped watching all of the national broadcasts; both cable and network. Political finger-pointing serves NO ONE right now. The fact that it's still going on, with our current crisis is nauseating. I have found that I get a much more honest assessment of things, by watching daily updates from our Governor, and from our local news casts.
My friend put a lengthy Thank You video on FB, for all of our friends. He said it best: "this thing doesn't care about your politics, sex, or age."
In short....let the healthcare EXPERTS handle this.
