in The Volquest Chat Monday night, Brent answered a question about Dormady and people wanting JG as follows "In fairness to those people we haven't seen this system work without the qb being the second best running back on the field/team."
I actually disagree. I believe our system has worked under Worley when the coaches weren't scared. Remember him bringing us back against UGA, missed 3rd quarter, so we lost. He looked good against OU minus the back breaking pick 6. He looked great against UF when he came in after Peterman dug us a hole.
I remember Kirk Herbstreit talking about how much we would miss Worley.
Our QB position has always been about the playcalling. When we aren't afraid to open it up, everyone has looked good. Butch has always been ultra conservative. When we arent losing, no QB looks good because we run a philosophy of "Don't screw it up" offense. When we are down two scores our offense always looked good because we had no choice. I could go on about this, but it would be redundant.
My point is we've seen this offense successful with far less talent surrounding a much less athletic QB.
