What's up with Dillon Bates?

Last year Dillon Bates was slated to be a "can't miss" Freshman starter which he did perform well until the injury, but I'm hearing very little about him headed into the year. I know he's competing for the Mike Linebacker position, but the buzz just doesn't seem as great this year. Are there still issues with his health, or other factors that are causing folks to not be as excited about his production this year?
